Pine forests Kausani is a Himalayan village in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand. Boasting of thick pine forests, Kausani (located at 1890 metres above sea level) offers a spectacular 300 km-wide view of the Himalayan peaks of Trishul (the Trident of Shiva, 7120 m), Nandadevi (Goddess of bliss, 7817 m) and Panchuli. The sunrise and sunset over these ranges are very charming and highly appreciated among the travelers. Besides these breathtaking views, Kausani offers some good treks, and leisurely walks in thick pine forests. The drive to Kausani is also very picturesque passing through terraced rice estates.

However, all the beauty of Kausani is because of the amazing views that it offers. Without those views (in rainy season), Kausani is a very average hill station and it doesn't anything other than quietude.

Kausani is still not a very touristy place even though it's changing fast. It's not completely isolated and not very crowded too. In 1929, Mahatama Gandhi had spent some time here learning Anasakti Yoga.
