where to stay in haridwar

Where to stay in Haridwar depends on what you are looking at. If you want to be close to the bank of Ganges, you may want to check out one of the old dharamshalas. Don't expect comfort but right next to Ganges.
Besides, there is one hotel that's next to Har Ki Padi and offers decent rooms without charging exorbitantly. It's name is slipping off my mind.

Muktinath - This is a beautiful place with 108 thirtha's to take bath. Beautiful lord Shri Hari's vigraha there. Also heard that Shaligrama Ugama shana is few miles from there, but a difficult journey.
Path to visit is Nepal, Pokhra and then take a chopper to Mukthinath. There are trips arranged by people from India. Contact Rajan who stays in Delhi and arrnages this trip. Mobile: 9411243018 . He arranged the trip for my mother.

You have to go to Nepal, Kathmandu and travel to Pokhra. From Pokhra either you can charter a helicopter for 10 -15 person group and fly to Muktinath and back. If are adventurous, you can trek to Muktinath and it takes two days. If you are 2 or 3 you can share a flight with other group. Many Indians travel to this place. During monsoon, chopper rides are available if weather is OK otherwise you get stranded.
He is not sure of direct helicopter service from India (Bihar Border).
From Kathmandu to Pokhra, there are daily flights.
Accommodation is Dharmashalas only. Food is typically Nepali. May be difficult to get pure vegetarian.
You can complete the darshan and trip in one day

Muktinath - I do not know where you are. whatever it is, you have to reach Gorakpur with some travels by train or join them @ Gorakpur Then go by bus to SANAULI THE BORDER OF NEPAL , Then to Pokra. from there you can go by bus or flight to Jomsom (Mustang) From Jomsom you have to walk about 4 kms to catch a jeep/motorbyke to the foot of hill of Shree Mukthinath There are no steps to climb the hill .You have to climb an altitude of about 1500 feet. you reach the pagoda of Shree Mukthinath . It is a small temple but the surroundings are kept clean The flooring is white marble. IT IS ONE OF THE EIGHT SWAYAMVYAKTHA TEMPLES OF SHREE VISHNU
First you go behind the temple, have bath in the 108 gomukhs then come to the front and have bath in the two small pushkarinees called Skheerasagaram and paramapadham. Then with dry cloths enter the temple santum santorum Have darshan by touching the idol, . Pooja has to be performed by you Earlier there was a Bhatt of Uththarakarnataka Probably he was driven see more...

I am just back from Mukthinath day before yesterday after an excellent heart filling trip. We were on our own (not conducted trips). We went by road up to Pokhara after visiting naimisharanya and Ayodhya (as my mother does not take even water outside without becoming madi we prefer to go by road to avoid her fasting she is 78). From pokhara we took a flight 12 seater to Jomsom (25 minutes)
From Jomsom airport you need to walk for around 1.5 KM (if you are on your own) if not for 0.5 KM (if you are on conducted trips).
Then take a jeep for Mukthinath base (they say around 21 KM but not sure as there is no road the jeep goes on the bank of kandaki which is only rocks) it is 1 Hour drive. Then you need to climb by walk or horse back to the temple which is around 1.5 Km.
Even if you go by helicopter (they say it is suspended now) you need to walk the final stretch.
The flights are not dependable as the services are frequently disrupted due to bad weather.
You can go by bus also. Then you will be going fro see more...
